Today, the Share Center received a $50,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program to assist with helping people help themselves b providing food for those in need. Specifically, thi grant will positively impact the local community by providing funds to purchase staple food items along with fresh fruits and vegetables for families in need. These funds will help the Share Center offer a variety of healthy foods and continue other important programs, such as counseling, financial assistance, and classes for GED, ESL and Computer Training.
Betty Glaeser said, “On behalf of the Share Center, I am honored to accept this check for $50,000 which will help us provide food to over 600 families per month on a weekly and bi-weekly basis. We will be able to take care of the increase in clients and carry out our goals and other programs.”
The grant was presented to Betty Glaeser, Executive Director, during a luncheon for the senior citizen clients of the Share Center provided by the Walmart Distribution Center held today at Rockwall and Brin Church of Christ Familly Life Center. During the luncheon, Susie Jagielo, Human Resources Manager for Walmart Distribution Center, presented the check.
”At the Walmart Foundation, we understand that organizations such as the Share Center are essential to building stronger communities. They share our values and are committed to helping families of Kaufman County in need to live better,” said Susie Jagielo. “Through this donation, we are hopeful that residents in Terrel, Texas and other cities in Kaufman County will receive a much needed benefit that will improve their lives.
The Walmart Foundation’s State Giving Program supports organizations that create opportunities so people can live better, awarding grants that have long-lasting, positive impact on communities across the U.S.
To be considered for support, perspective grantee organizations must submit applications through the Walmart Foundation STate Giving Program’s online grant application. Applicants must have a current 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in order to meet the program’s minimum eligibility criteria. The Share Center is a Charitable Organization in Terrell, Texas. Founded in 1995, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. the Share Center's mission is to "Help People Help Themselves" to provide the opportunity for a brighter future by providing food clothing, build self-esteem, GED and ESL classes, and job referrals.
