The Share Center opened in 1995 with the goal to feed the people caught in the Welfare Reform of the 1990's.
Many families of Terrell in Kaufman County were caught in the two-five year plan to come off welfare and would not qualify to continue to have assistance. Kaufman County had been a cotton raising county and many were children of share croppers and pickers We also wanted to help the disabled and senior citizens have a better quality of life by furnishing their food.
Today, we have grown to be neighbors helping neighbors. Some are the working poor but most are laid off or work time reduced and can't afford to pay rent and have groceries.
We feed thousands every year. We also assist with GED and other classes by partnering with TISD, the Library, and the City of Terrell.
We need you!
We are working to make a difference in our city and in our county. Our goal is not only to "Stomp Out Hunger" but to "Help People Help Themselves". To do this, we need people like you to care about this community and volunteer or donate.
